There are two forms of western medical Palliative care. The #1 form of Palliative care that is used is in taking care of the dying patient where there is no potential medical cure available for their treatment and the palliative care is just used to ameliorate their symptoms of pain and discomfort.

The #2 form of western medical palliative care is the whole methodolgy of Western Medicine Health Care, in general, where not a single form of WESTERN MEDICINE actually fixes the core dis-ease or health problem at all in any shape, manner or form. The World Health Organization (WHO) describes palliative care as "an approach that improves the quality of life of patients and their families facing the problems associated with life-threatening illness, through the prevention and relief of suffering by means of early identification and impeccable assessment and treatment of pain and other problems, physical, psychosocial, and spiritual." In the past, palliative care was a disease specific approach, but today the WHO takes a broader approach, that the principles of palliative care should be applied as early as possible to any chronic and ultimately fatal illness.
